He's HERE!!!! Alex James has finally arrived!!
In case you haven't been following the blog recently, our neighbors Lisa, Hector, and big sister Domonique welcomed their little sweetie, Alex James, yesterday, February 4, 2008, at 9:54 a.m. Alex weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz. and was 22 inches long! Alex was delivered via c-section due to his being in a footling breech presentation.
I had the honor of being able to hold him and snap these pics of him yesterday afternoon. He is sooooooo sweet! I think my ovaries exploded when I saw him. How lucky am I that he's only one door down, so I can go and snuggle and love on him all the time!!!
Katie is DYING to see him. She wants so badly to go see TiTi and Alex in the hospital, but you have to be 12 years old or a sibling to visit :( So we have to wait until they get home on Thursday.
Another bonus is he'll be my FIRST newborn session! How lucky am I to have such a beautiful boy to photograph!!!
When I visited yesterday, he was getting down to the business of breastfeeding, and doing a heckuva job for one only six hours old! Mama was a little sick from the anesthesia, but we're hoping that'll let up soon. She'll probably do much better getting off that morphine PCA pump. I had similar pain control with Jonathan and I felt like crap on it. Did well for the pain, but I think you feel worse with the pump, vs. having just a demerol shot like I had with Katie.
And here's one last shot of mama's belly I snapped Sunday night...
We are all so thrilled and excited that he's finally here. No doubt Mama and Daddy are happy and relieved that he's here in their arms! Mama's had a rough pregnancy, starting with awful awful morning sickness, then a subchorionic hematoma that bled off and on for WEEKS, then if that wasn't enough, she got a placental tear, which was very scary, then a bout of preterm labor right around 25-26 weeks that had to be stopped with terbutaline. She's pretty much been out of work since she found out she was pregnant with him last summer. We are all so very thankful that he's here, safe and sound and healthy! Bless you, little Alex! Welcome to the neighborhood!
